WWE NXT Results – 10/8/2024: Orton vs. Evans, Tag Team Title Match, and More
WWE NXT continued its Midwest tour with a stop in St. Louis, MO, for its second episode on The CW. The night’s main event featured hometown hero and former WWE Champion Randy Orton making his NXT debut against rising star Je’Von Evans. Fans were also treated to an NXT Tag Team Championship match, as Nathan Frazier and Axiom defended their titles against Grayson Waller and Austin Theory. Additionally, NXT North American Champion Oba Femi defended his title against Tony D’Angelo, a match that had been building for weeks.
Opening Segment: Trick Williams Welcomes the Crowd The show opened with Je’Von Evans and Randy Orton arriving at the arena, followed by the entrance of the new NXT Champion, Trick Williams. After a video recap of last week’s CW debut, Williams made his way to the ring, proudly showing off his newly-designed NXT Championship belt. The crowd cheered loudly as Williams addressed them, stating he was ready for any challenger.
Wes Lee interrupted from the upper level, expressing his intent to become a Triple Crown Champion and warning Williams that he wasn’t ready for the competition. Williams responded by telling Lee to slow down, but Lee fired back, saying Williams “wasn’t it” and that he would take the title soon. Before the exchange could escalate, Jey Uso’s music hit, and he entered through the crowd to a thunderous ovation. Uso shook hands with Williams and hinted at their championship success. They led the crowd in dueling “Yeet” and “Whoop That Trick” chants before the segment ended with both men exiting to Williams’ music.
Kelani Jordan, Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill vs. The Fatal Influence The first match of the night featured Kelani Jordan, Bianca Belair, and Jade Cargill teaming up to face The Fatal Influence—Jazmyn Nyx, Fallon Henley, and Jacy Jayne. The action started fast, with The Fatal Influence triple-teaming Jordan. However, Jordan quickly regained control with a dropkick to Nyx. Belair and Cargill then stormed the ring, and all three women body-slammed their opponents simultaneously.
Backstage, cameras cut to Oba Femi preparing for his upcoming North American Championship defense, while in the ring, Jordan maintained control before tagging in Belair. Fallon Henley tagged in for her team but was immediately outmaneuvered by Belair, who taunted and pummeled her in the corner. Jacy Jayne attempted to interfere, grabbing Belair’s hair, but was knocked out of the ring for her trouble. Belair delivered a delayed suplex to Henley before tagging in Cargill. After a display of power, Cargill tagged Jordan, who press-slammed onto Henley for a nearfall.
Nyx re-entered the match and hit a bulldog on Jordan, taking advantage as the referee was distracted. Jayne capitalized with a cannonball off the apron onto Jordan, sending the show to commercial.
Post-Commercial Action: Teamwork and High-Flying Moves Returning from commercial, Fatal Influence had taken control of the match, but Jordan quickly regained momentum, flipping out of a backdrop to hit a lawbreaker. Jade Cargill tagged in and cleaned house with Spinebusters and Fallaway Slams on every member of Fatal Influence. Belair re-entered the match to deliver a tandem move with Cargill, nearly securing the win.
The action intensified as Jordan hit a jumping DDT followed by a moonsault to the outside, wiping out Jayne and Henley. Jazmyn Nyx retaliated with a Nyx Kick to Belair for a nearfall, but Belair fought back, tagging in Cargill. Together, they hit a devastating Wheelbarrow German Suplex combo. Jordan then tagged in for the final blow, nailing a Split-Legged Moonsault on Nyx to secure the victory for her team.
