Report: Update On Daniel Garcia’s Contract AEW Contract Status, WWE’s Interest
AEW star Daniel Garcia last competed on the July 3 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he faced Will Ospreay in a hard-fought match. Despite his best efforts, Garcia was defeated by Ospreay. Following the match, MJF delivered a brutal post-match attack on Garcia, taking him out of action.
Since that attack, Garcia has not been seen on AEW programming, leaving fans wondering about his status and potential return. His absence has been notable, especially considering his prominent role within AEW, and many are eager to see when he will make his comeback.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) previously reported that Daniel Garcia’s contract was set to expire in October, barring a deal being reached. In an update, Sapp writes that, as of last week, he had not re-signed with a company. As noted, this would see Garcia’s deal expire this fall. Per Sapp, a top name in AEW believed that he was staying and speculated that he had re-signed, but this was not the case as of last week.
Sapp writes that there is interest in Daniel Garcia from WWE, and AEW is also interested in keeping him.
Garcia previously had a WWE tryout, and he signed with AEW in 2021. He is a former ROH Pure Champion. Garcia had a prominent run alongside Chris Jericho in the Jericho Appreciation Society before he broke out as a singles star.
Daniel Garcia is not the only AEW star with a contract that is set to expire. As previously reported, the Lucha Brothers’ deals are coming up. They are reportedly expected to leave, and they have increasingly been linked to WWE.
