Eric Bischoff Reacts to AEW All Out 2024 Steel Cage Match…
In the latest chapter of their ongoing feud, Swerve Strickland and “Hangman” Adam Page clashed in a brutal steel cage match at AEW All Out earlier this month. The match has sparked significant discussion, particularly due to controversial elements like a chair shot to the head and the use of a hypodermic needle. On a recent episode of “83 Weeks,” Eric Bischoff expressed his view that the match represents AEW’s broader creative challenges.
Bischoff remarked, “I just think, creatively, they’re in a pit. The more they try to climb out, the deeper the pit seems to get. This match, in my opinion, was garbage. It’s not the kind of thing that will attract a broader audience.”
The former WCW executive further stated that he finds it hard to take AEW seriously at this point. While AEW might sustain its core fan base and achieve some level of success, Bischoff doesn’t anticipate significant business growth.
“I don’t care if they get five more renewals or secure television deals with other sports cable channels,” Bischoff continued. “Those are positive developments, but they won’t change the product or drive meaningful business growth.”
Another contentious segment at All Out involved Jon Moxley nearly suffocating Bryan Danielson with a plastic bag just before the main event. Unsurprisingly, Bischoff was not impressed with this angle either, labeling it as “cheap heat” and asserting that Danielson has much more to offer.
As Bischoff suggested, there are ongoing rumors about AEW nearing a new media rights deal with Warner Bros Discovery. Additionally, there are speculations that AEW might be exploring another deal with Fox, alongside their main rights package.
