AEW’s Lance Archer Discusses Evolution in Pro Wrestling
Lance Archer, a prominent AEW star known for his impressive physique, possesses the agility to navigate the ring with surprising finesse.
On his new podcast, “The Hawk’s Nest,” Archer shared insights into his training with traditional wrestlers, who initially had specific expectations for his style based on his size. Despite this, Archer gradually infused a variety of styles into his wrestling.
“Back in the early 2000s, there was a clear notion of what big men should be like, but the industry was evolving,” Archer noted. “The business continuously evolves, and thatโs just part of its nature.”
Initially, Archer’s mentors emphasized the importance of authenticity over conforming to stereotypes of a “big man.” As he progressed in his career, he began to incorporate more athletic maneuvers, including backflips.
“I kept it relatively straightforward,” Archer said. “The moonsault was probably the most extravagant move I did. Before landing on my head in AEW, I had never experienced such a mishap, and it seemed like a simple move.”
