Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry fight results, highlights: The ‘Problem Child’ scores TKO ahead of Mike Tyson bout

Some felt Jake Paul was taking too great a risk facing Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship champion Mike Perry, especially with a lucrative November fight with Mike Tyson potentially in the balance. Paul proved those fears unfounded on Saturday night, battering Perry with three knockdowns en route to a sixth-round stoppage.

Paul wasted no time proving his boxing skills, catching Perry with a right hand less than a minute into the opening round. The fight was essentially over at that point, with Perry’s main attribute being his ability to sustain damage.

A second knockdown came in Round 2, with another right hand sending Perry to the canvas. Perry tried to find success by walking forward to make the fight ugly, but Paul continued to fire a variety of shots, especially a devastating jab. This jab hurt Perry again late in the fight, leading the doctor and referee to consider stopping the fight after Round 5.

Perry was allowed to continue, but Round 6 marked the end when Paul rocked Perry with a hard right and a big flurry against the ropes for the third knockdown. Perry beat the count, but when instructed to move side-to-side, he stumbled, forcing a stoppage at 1:12 of Round 6.

“He’s tough as nails, I’m sorry it took so long,” Paul said after the fight. “Respect to Mike Perry, he’s the king of violence and BKFC champion.”

Paul guaranteed the Tyson fight was a done deal and praised Tyson, saying the time had come to take his crown. Perry then made a callout to Alex Pereira, former UFC middleweight champion and current light heavyweight champion.

Perry credited Paul, admitting he was hurt and suggesting speed was a big factor. “You did a great job, you were way too fast for me and I couldn’t catch up,” Perry said to Paul. “The kid hit me hard.”
