Report Details Impact Of Damon Kemp’s WWE Departure On NXT Locker Room

Earlier this week, “WWE NXT” star Damon Kemp, real name Bobby Steveson, confirmed his departure from WWE, announcing his availability for independent bookings starting August 12. Kemp’s exit reportedly stems from WWE’s decision not to renew his contract, not a release. This situation has caused unease in the “NXT” locker room.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Kemp’s departure has led to “nervousness” among “NXT” talent, particularly those nearing contract expiration. Despite positive reviews for his in-ring performance, Kemp, who joined WWE in 2021 and was part of the No Quarter Catch Crew, was not seen as a future brand star. Consequently, similarly positioned talents are now concerned about their WWE futures, fearing potential cuts.

Kemp’s last match was on June 25 on “NXT,” where he lost to Tavion Heights. Following Kemp’s exit, Heights replaced him in the No Quarter Catch Crew, now led by Charlie Dempsey. The previous leader, Drew Gulak, left WWE in May after his contract was not renewed. Kemp’s brother, Gable Steveson, also left WWE in May.
