Tony D’Angelo Reflects on Winning the NXT North American Title
Tony DโAngeloโs journey through WWE NXT over the past three years has been marked by notable achievements. As a two-time NXT Tag Team Champion, an NXT Heritage Cup winner, and now the reigning NXT North American Champion, “The Don of NXT” has proven himself a rising star within the brand.
In a recent appearance on The Ringer Wrestling Show, D’Angelo discussed the significance of his North American Championship win, which saw him end Oma Femiโs impressive reign.
A Meaningful Victory
โThis one was emotional because I climbed the mountain that nobody thought I could climb,โ DโAngelo said, reflecting on his hard-fought victory. The personal weight of the achievement was amplified by the support of his stablematesโChanning Lorenzo, Luca Crusifino, and Adriana Rizzoโwho stood by him during challenging moments. โHaving them with me really helped me through mentally tough times,โ he shared. “It all worked out, and it was a nice hurdle to get over in my career.”
Historic Accomplishment
DโAngeloโs North American Title win cemented his place in NXT history. He became the first NXT superstar to hold the NXT Tag Team Championship, the Heritage Cup, and the North American Title. With only the NXT Championship left to complete the set, DโAngelo was asked if he had any plans to challenge current champion Trick Williams.
โOf course, everybody thinks about that,โ D’Angelo admitted. โBut Trickโs a nice guy. He just got the title back, so Iโll let him hang onto it for a bit, and then weโll re-evaluate.โ
Family Support
D’Angelo also opened up about how much his title win meant to his family back home. โIt was great. I canโt even put into words how excited they were for me,โ he said. โItโs a good feeling to know that people have your back and want to see you succeed.โ
The journey to becoming North American Champion wasnโt just a career milestone but a deeply personal triumph for DโAngelo, reminding him of the importance of family, both in the ring and at home.
