Bully Ray Says This WWE Star’s Signature Move Can Result in an ‘Ugly Bump’
Many wrestlers have mastered the spear, with notable names like Edge, Roman Reigns, and now former Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker showcasing their skills. Recently, Breakker delivered a trio of impressive spears on “WWE Raw,” targeting new champion Jey Uso as well as Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods from The New Day. While many wrestlers can execute the spear, few have perfected the art of taking one.
According to WWE Hall of Famer and “Busted Open Radio” host Bully Ray, wrestlers train their bodies to protect themselves properly. However, he noted that Breakker’s spear is particularly challenging to absorb.
“That spearโyou know it’s coming. You see it’s coming,” he said. “You have time to think about it. So to stay there and take the spear on the floor, the same way you would in the ring, is almost impossible. Go back and watch anyone who has taken the spear from Bron Breakker on the floor since he started doing it. None of them take it pretty.”
Bully Ray explained that the difficulty arises because wrestlers cannot stay loose and relaxed on the floor like they do in the ring. He referred to it as an “ugly bump,” as the body tends to tense up before impact.
“You know it’s going to hit you, but you also know the fall on the concrete is going to be worse,” Bully Ray added.
Itโs likely that Breakker will continue to deliver even more spears to Uso after losing the Intercontinental Championship to him on “WWE Raw.” Following a pretense of friendly terms, Breakker unleashed his aggression with spears after Uso’s first title defense against Woods.
