AEW’s Swerve Strickland Reflects on Bitter Feud with Hangman Page

Swerve Strickland made his return to AEW on Saturday after recovering from his intense steel cage match against Hangman Page. During the post-show media scrum, the former AEW World Champion shared that the feud had taken a significant toll on him.

“It felt like a real deep, dark moment for the last month or so,” Strickland said, expressing how being back in his home state of Washington helped him heal from the experience. “Nothing feels better than getting back to your roots to reenergize you. I’m still not 100%, but I am getting a clean bill of health moving forward.”

Strickland acknowledged that while many issues have been resolved between him and Hangman Page, a small piece still remains unsettled. “He can have that unsanctioned victory over me, but I have two legitimate victories over him,” Swerve stated.

Reflecting on Page’s trajectory, Strickland believes he was a crucial factor in Page’s recent success. “Over the last year, I was the best thing to happen to Hangman Page,” he said, pointing out Page’s evolution from competing in the pre-show battle royal at All Out 2023 to headlining the event at All Out 2024.

Currently, Strickland is engaged in a feud with former Hurt Business members MVP and Shelton Benjamin, who recently joined AEW in an attempt to persuade Strickland to leave his manager, Prince Nana. However, Strickland made his loyalty clear on Saturday, standing firmly by Nana’s side in the Tacoma Dome.
